Mega Success Through Storytelling on Social Media

Be the Hero to the Fullest

"Whenever I encounter a trial or a obstacle, I just regard it as another of life's dramas and I face it head on. We are all the protagonists in the drama of our own lives so we may as well play our role as the hero to the fullest. Its especially important for the young people to have this attitude. If we react to everything that happens with surprise, panic, complaint and sadness, we can't be a hero.We will just end up ruining the whole drama."
Dr Daisaku Ikeda

Storytelling is a powerful tool, which inspires the audience and builds the reputation/brand of the storyteller too. You can share your own stories, how you helped a client and so on.
Stories can take several forms. It can be a series of novels, biography/autobiography/novel, 1-2 pages stories or one paragraph and one liner stories. Here are some interesting stories I have written (Please keep in mind that I have written these stories over the past two years):-

                                                                One Liner Stories

This is a new format I am experimenting with. Here are some examples:-
Long back a trainee had asked me, ''Sir what are your weaknesses?''I said, ''Marketers don't tell their weaknesses. It's your job to find out.''

Once upon a time there was something called thinking Mind .......and then humanity evolved and developed intuitive Soul. #future

Some want to join Bollywood and Hollywood. Some have realized 'Lifewood' is no less dramatic and has action, romance, comedy, climax and all the other drama.

Using Anecdotes

Life is Strange......and truth stranger than fiction

I was a clumsy child (probably a natural storyteller too) and was often injured as a result. When I would go my mother and she would ask "What happened to your tooth?", I would start telling her the story. She would rather tell me, "Tell me the facts, don't tell stories."

One day, I lost half of my front tooth and the dentist joked, "So here is the window to the world (to be brutally honest, it was rather a window for the world).

Now when I got into the habit of telling plain facts to my mother (I still tell stories to others :) , she rather says, "Don't give me the dry facts.Tell me the whole story."

Life is strange, isn't it?

What you unconsciously do, is what you are born to do

As a child, I was an unconscious storyteller. I loved case study method during MBA, which is nothing but storytelling. I started my blog with an anecdote (short true story). As a teacher -trainer I used stories frequently.
My first book is about the story of TV news in India. My second book has plenty of stories from my life and the lessons i learnt.

I never realized all this while that I was a passionate though unconscious storyteller. And one fine day I realized the immense power of stories to inspire people, energize action, connect emotionally, build reputation and entertain us at the same time.

As Picasso says, ''The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away.''
What we are gifted with, we will do unconsciously. The skill we practice effortlessly, unconsciously is surely our gift.

So find your gift and give it away.

Life is full of surprises

I remember an interesting incident. One day a colleague in my last organisation asked me, "Why do you work so sincerely while other people believe in "Look Busy, Take Easy?". I said, "I will give the reply when the right time comes."

One day I decided to quit and become an entrepreneur (not a planned decision), went to him and said, "Had I learnt only to look busy and take easy, I would not have been left with the capacity to become an entrepreneur. So who knows what life has in store for you?"

So avoid Politicking and focus on learning because who knows?

Here is an interesting collection of anecdotes:-

Creativity always tells stories

Creativity always tells stories, sometimes through blogs or books, sometimes through painting or cartoons and sometimes through music or film.
The story is sometimes subtle, sometimes direct, sometimes autobiographical, sometimes about others and sometimes comes from a wild imagination.
Your brand is nothing but your story and you are its ''Omnipotent Creator''.

Short Stories

How social media changed me as a person forever?
The best way of polishing our character is to interact with people. In a metro, people are tired of commuting to offices and they prefer to connect through phone and web rather than travelling long distances to meet others. In such a scenario, social media becomes a very useful tool for not only building and maintaining relationships but growing as a person. Read More

How blogging turned my career and life downside up!
"Blogging is like Sex. You can't fake it. You can't fake passion. You can't fake wanting to engage with public" - this quote by Kevin Anderson reveals all. I started my blog, 'The Joys of Teaching' due to my passion for teaching and writing and to build my personal brand. Read More

How I created an Internationally Popular Blog in just six months?
In last week of December 2010, I started my Blog “The Joys of Teaching” and posted one article only in 2010. The series initially began with my experiences as a teacher. Later on I added some posts on life skills which I found lacking in few of my students. The Blog has 200 posts now, which make it an average of 20 Blogs per month (five per week including guest blogs). Read More

Besides the above, one can venture into video storytelling on social media (and biography/autobiography in book/ e-book format)

A Final Word

While the victorious stories of others inspire us, we can also motivate ourselves, by remembering to write our life story in a way that inspires others. Isn't everyone struggling in some area of life? When the struggle becomes a victory, you become the hero and the struggle becomes a story. Remember, the troubles of 2012 will be the jokes of 2013. The struggle of today, will become a story of tomorrow.

Every Life Has A Story
Every life has a story and every story must be brought to life (when it is put in words, audio or video, the story comes to life.) A great life has two stages;
1) In the first stage, you write your success story (and you define your own success)

2) In the second stage, you share you success story and inspire the world.

On the stage of life, at which stage are you?

So, how inspiring is going to be your story in 2013? Will you win over the villains and antagonists and emerge as the hero? Are you the scriptwriter or you have left it to the fate?

"Great storytellers—and, I suspect, great leaders—are skeptics who understand their own masks as well as the masks of life, and this understanding makes them humble. They see the humanity in others and deal with them in a compassionate yet realistic way. That duality makes for a wonderful leader."
Robert McKee
